I Am a Little Elephant (Barron's Little Animal Mini-Series)
Published in Hardcover by Barrons Juveniles (August, 1993)
Author: Francois Crozat
Average review score:

Love the illustrations
All the "I'm a Little..." books by Francois are incredible. The pictures are detailed and are very engaging. Our 20-month-old looks through them very thoroughly and you can make a fun game out of saying "where's the butterfly" and then he points, and so on and so on. The format is really nice...big large hardcover pages (board book) with very colorful illustrations. You end up wanting to own the whole series as they will be excellent "first reader" books as well. Kids just love the animals too. Excellent value (priced very reasonably for the very good quality of the product).

I am a Little Hedgehog
I bought this book for my toddler son who loves his stuffed Hedgehog. I was very impressed with the illustrations in the book. They were very realistic giving him a good idea of hedgehogs in the wild. Also, having only a a sentence or two per page makes it easier to hold his attention to the book. It was a good story providing young children with an introduction to wild life. The book was also well contructed with young readers in mind who are not always carefull with things. I would reccomend this book to anyone with small kids.

I Am a Little Monkey (Barron's Little Animal Series)

great artwork
This is a large boardbook that is perfect for teaching children about nature and how monkeys live. The pictures are beautiful and my nine month old loves turning the pages. The story is easy to follow and the vocabulary is simple. There is no violence, and the story teaches about respecting one's elders. I highly recommend it.

Fun and surreal!
You will believe a pig can ride a unicycle! This is a strange little book chock full of cute pigs and surreal barnyard encounters between a little pig and his animal friends. By far the best of the "I Am A Little..." series, this is interesting for kids and adults alike. Classic!

Marvelous!! Young children can relate to the animals.
This is a marvelously illustrated book. The drawings are well thought out since it depicts tigers in their natural environment yet it doesn't include too many distractions like other books may have. Simply wonderful for young children!! The story line is simple and allows for children to relate to the activities that the animals are doing. BRAVO!!

Impact of Managed Care on Psychodynamic Treatment
Published in Hardcover by International Universities Press (June, 1996)
Authors: James W. Barron and Harry Sands
Average review score:

Still salient after all these years!
This compilation of articles dealing with the assault upon the overall integrity of psychological/psychodynamic treatments across therapeutic modalities is an outstanding work. Sands and Barron, reknowned clinicians in their own right, have collected a sterling cast of authors who clearly articulate the issues that continue to daunt (and damage) clinician's ability to offer quality care to individuals seeking psychotherapeutic remedies for a sweeping range of complaints.

One author in particular describes the debilitating effects of managed care upon a regional hospital based children's psychiatric treatment service. The author, while vividly describing the crippling effects of "managed cost" works to also describe coping skills for the clinician to better assure at least a minium level of integrity in the provision of services.

Lest anyone suggest that managed care has been but a "tempest in a teapot" one has only to read recent accountings in the popular press regarding the paucity of psychological services now available. Our nation's burgeoning crisis in mental health has been compounded by the recent devastating terrorist acts in our nation. The effect of managed care in the inhibition and destruction of psychological care has been elevated to a more pressing level of concern -

This book can help to serve as a roadmap in road to undoing the devastation wrought by the ill conceived and poorly applied forces of managed care.

This is an amazing book. The technical sections on tcp/ip, ethernet, and history are bang-on. I keep this book close by my computer for reference. Very accurate book.

It's Negotiable: A How-To Handbook of Win/Win Tactics
Published in Paperback by Pfeiffer & Co (April, 1994)
Author: Peter Barron Stark
Average review score:

An exellent book
This book is divided in 2 parts. The first one is about the influence that NLP plays in the negotiation process. It teaches you the right body movements for a successful negotiation. The second part is about the most used verbal techniques. It teaches you how to use those techniques and how to "combat" them if someone uses it against you. It is an excellent book.
